Kusumagiri Mental Health Centre was founded in 1971 by the Congregation of Medical Sisters of St. Joseph (MSJ), Nirmala Province, Ernakulam. It is one of the pioneering institutions for mental health care in the Nongovernmental voluntary sector in Kerala. The vision and farsightedness of “Servant of God” Msgr. Joseph C. Panjikaran, the founder of M S J, was the inspiration and motivation behind this noble endeavor. The centre made its humble beginning with one psychiatrist, three psychiatric nurses, one pharmacist and one laboratory technician. At present the hospital provides inpatient facility for 100 adults, 15 children and adolescents. A committed and enthusiastic team of doctors, psychiatric nurses, psychologists, psychiatric social workers, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, special educators, Music and yoga therapists etc. make a difference…!!! Kusumagiri Mental Health Centre (KMHC), located in the city of Cochin, Kerala, South India is providing world class mental health services and personalized treatment and care including clinical consultation and assessment, mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention, resource development and education & training.

Navajyothi Center for Child Behavioral Sciences is a Centre for Childhood and Adolescent Mental health started in 1986. The center provides services for all psychiatric, psychological, Behavioral and educational problems offering preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic and academic services. Navajyothi autism project was started in 2000 for the detection, intervention and rehabilitation measures for children with autism. Other developmental disorders like cerebralpalcy, down syndrome... etc are also treating by Multidisciplinary team.

This is the special school for children with Autism. It started function on 2002 onwards. Managed by the Medical Sisters of St. Joseph at Kusumagiri, Kakkanad. An extension of the Navajyothi Centre for Child Behavioral Sciences. Focused on training children with developmental disabilities including Autism,Cerebral Palsy and Intellectual Disability.

St.Joseph's Hospital, Poovathussery is a 40 bedded general hospital situated in Ernakulam district at Aluva - Mala road, about 12 kilometers away from Angamaly. The beneficiaries of the hospital are a rural population covering Annamanada, Parakkadavu and Kuzhoor Panchayath. St.Joseph's Hospital at Poovathussery was started by the Society of St.Vincent De-Paul during 1974. It was managed by the society from its inception till 1996. Since the Vincent De Paul Society was finding it difficult to manage this hospital, the administration of the hospital was handed over to M.S.J Congregation on 31st January 1996.
